Jerry Bautista is the vice president and general manager of the New Business Group, chartered with driving new revenue growth opportunities for Intel. The New Business Group is composed of two separate groups: the New Devices Group (NDG) and the New Business Initiatives (NBI) group. NDG creates primarily consumer-facing wearable and IoT devices. NDG is capable of full industrial design, hardware and software architecture and end-to-end manufacturing to produce fully finished consumer devices. NBI seeks new business opportunities in services, software and hardware. Once identified, these ventures are incubated to early stage products and market revenue before transfer to an existing or newly created business unit. Prior to this assignment, Bautista led an Intel Labs microprocessor research team chartered with driving the transfer of research into product development and helping to set Intel's strategic research agenda for future microprocessor technology ingredients. Before joining Intel, Bautista served as the CTO of an optical device startup and spent 13 years at Lucent Bell Labs in the field of optical components and communication systems/networks, with assignments ranging from basic Bell Labs research to development, operations and strategic marketing. He received his bachelor's degree from Stanford University and his Ph.D. from Princeton University both in chemical engineering.
