Tomorrow, Senators Fischer, Ayotte, Booker and Schatz are expected to introduce an Internet of Things (IoT) bill entitled Developing Innovation and Growing the Internet of Things Act (DIGIT Act).  The IoT is creating transformational opportunities with the potential to significantly impact the marketplace across numerous sectors from industrial and manufacturing to energy and transportation to retail and smart cities – fueling GDP, creating new jobs, and bolstering the US economy.

By launching a cross government-industry collaborative effort to develop recommendations for a national IoT strategy, the DIGIT Act paves the way for America’s global leadership in the rapidly evolving IoT marketplace.  The pro-innovation DIGIT Act will position the US government, industry and consumers to reap the unprecedented benefits of a thriving global IoT marketplace – projected to be valued at up to $11 trillion by 2020, with the industrial sector alone reaching $151 billion in that timeframe

Intel applauds Senators Fischer, Ayotte, Booker and Schatz for their continued forward-thinking vision to advance US IoT leadership as the world undergoes this dramatic technology transformation from isolated systems to Internet-enabled devices that can network and communicate with each other and the cloud – seamlessly delivering new services, enhancing productivity and efficiency, improving real-time decision making, solving critical societal problems, and developing new and innovative user experiences.
