Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! 2011 was quite a memorable year and we only expect more great things in 2012!

I don’t quite believe in resolutions, but I do like setting goals. One of my goals is to blog more often, both professionally (on this blog and on the Student Branding blog) but personally too (stay tuned and maybe I’ll give you a sneak peek!)

Content is definitely what keeps people coming to a blog, but the way things are set up and the platform make a difference too. Notice anything different around here? There are minor tweaks, but we changed some of the behind-the-scenes workings on the blog. Stay tuned though because we have more great things coming. As we look at giving the blog a bit of a facelift, we’d love to hear your ideas!

  2. I appreciate the blog – it can be pretty descriptive about the work environment at Intel. However I find some of your articles watered down. Many pieces are written by employees in HR, IT, and other segments of Intel that get more visibility – and frankly these people are the ones that know how to sugar coat an experience. I for one would appreciate seeing more from the other less visible sides of the business, and being honest about these experiences, both good and bad. Those that work in the Fabs, the engineers, the research labs, and so on. If you had a bad day, knowing the cause, the solution, and how to avoid it myself, is more useful than hearing about how wonderful everything is all the time. I realize that this is a marketing arm of Intel so it’s not what you want to publish and it’s tough to find the truth sometimes…but it would be more genuine. If I am mistaken then I apologize (admittedly I haven’t looked back that far in the archives), but as a future Intel employee you would have at least one interested reader. Thanks!

    1. Hi Jorge! That’s great feedback! As the blog manager, I try to get a variety of different contributors–it’s not the easiest to convince someone, but I am trying! (I think I just convinced a friend of mine who works in the Fab to write a blog post for me.) You’re absolutely right in that not every day is going to be a good day–that’s inevitable. I like your idea, kind of a “So you had a bad day?” type of post on what your day was like, why it was like that and what you’re going to do next. As for the sugar coating–it’s not, it’s genuine. I really do appreciate your comment and feedback–send me a note once you’re on this side of Intel and maybe you can blog for me?
