Note from the blog manager: Oliver, a software engineering intern from Georgia College and State University, enjoys time to connect with college graduates. It is their insight that gives interns inside information on what it is like to work at Intel full-time. Intel has several rotational programs for students to diversify their skills and learn more about what the company has to offer. Keep reading to find out about Oliver’s day at the ballpark!

I had the pleasure of attending the San Francisco Giants game with some of the other interns and College Graduates (CGs) from Intel this past Saturday. It was a great experience and I was very thankful I had the opportunity to attend. Thanks to Caitlin’s event organization and Intel’s support, the whole event was a big success. At the tailgate prior to the game I had the opportunity to meet many of the Interns and CGs I had not yet had the opportunity to meet, as well as reconnect with those I haven’t spoken to for a while. I had a great time doing this over some food generously provided by Intel! After the tailgate we all headed over to enjoy the ballgame at AT&T Park.

While I attend many sporting events back home in Georgia, none were quite like the Giants game I experienced Saturday. There were 42,000 fans packed into an incredibly scenic stadium to cheer on their defending champion. The Giants were trying to a win over the Brewers. The atmosphere was unlike any other. Every fan seemed really into the game, which is not true in many other sporting events I have attended. I thoroughly enjoyed cheering the Giants on while eating the local favorite garlic fries. Due to the close score of the game, the crowd even got the privilege to see Mr. “Fear the Beard” himself, Brian Wilson, a famed relief pitcher for the Giants. The crowd welcomed him into the game in the ninth inning with a standing ovation and continued to cheer loud until he closed out the game giving the Giants a 4-2 win. My whole experience was a great one and wouldn’t have been possible without the great support Intel constantly gives to make all of these events possible (and there are tons of them)! I can’t wait until the next event!
