Manage Digital Signage from Anywhere with Intel® RCM

In the new era of digital signage made possible by the Internet of Things, brands and retailers are striving to create, implement, and efficiently manage engaging and consistent experiences for their customers. As part of Intel’s continuing innovation in this arena, we recently announced updates to Intel® Retail Client Manager (RCM), which integrates three major features–audience analytics, remote control, and localization–into a single client management product, giving brands and retailers more control and increasing their efficiency.
I’ll dig into the exciting details of RCM in a second, but before I do, let me ask your opinion: Which of the following approaches do you think is more likely to engage a potential customer?

  1. A framed poster, hanging on the wall, that contains words and photos about a single product; or
  2. A dynamic, interactive kiosk that displays animated digital content about several products

Whether you’re already a convert to digital signage or just starting to think about its promise, I predict you’ll agree that #2 is a clear winner. Although the era of digital posters, interactive kiosks, and intelligent vending machines has just begun, its impact on retail sales and advertising will be tremendous. Intel RCM allows retailers and brands to bring these next-gen solutions to market faster and more cost-effectively.

Retailers have always wanted to know who is looking at their ads and how a new ad is performing. Although there are existing software packages that provide audience impression and analytics capability, RCM integrates this capability directly into the client manager. The result: a simplified setup with a single application on a single license. With Intel® RCM Audience Analytics, campaign managers are able to quantify audience demographics, gain the objective data required to maximize the value of the digital network, analyze viewer interactions, and optimize on-screen content in near real-time. Just as important, no photos are ever taken or recorded and no personal information is collected with Audience Analytics; the software works by analyzing facial dimensions and turning them into numbers.

The new version of RCM also includes Intel® RCM Remote Control. This feature integrates a management console application right into the retail client manager, which means you can control all your retail digital touch points remotely, from anywhere, with enhanced browser-based manageability capabilities. This allows for reduced complexity in scheduling and managing content, and reduced downtime of digital touch points. Plus, the remote capability can work with Intel® Active Management Technology (AMT)-enabled systems and non-AMT-enabled systems (although there are two additional features for AMT-enabled systems).

In addition to integrated audience analytics and remote control, RCM is equipped to meet the needs of retail campaign managers around the world; the platform now supports English, Spanish, Japanese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, German, and Portuguese.

Each day, the number of touch points between brands and consumers grows. With its integrated features and intuitive, easy-to-use campaign manager interface, Intel® Retail Client Manager lets brands and retailers securely manage entire fleets of digital assets remotely and improve customer experiences.
