IDF 2013 a Key Milestone for the Internet of Things

As is always the case, IDF 2013 in San Francisco last week was a very busy, fun, and important event for the technology industry. It was personally very exciting for me to attend the top-notch keynotes this year and hear the groundbreaking news. Intel announced a new Quark SoCs processor family that extends our reach in the Internet of Things (IoT)! “Bay Trail” was officially launched with three new low-power multicore SoCs for mobile development and the 4th generation Intel® Core™ vPro™ processors for business computing are now available. But what really stood out for me this year was a deep sense of connection and unity in the Intel ecosystem as leading companies across multiple industries position themselves today for opportunities made possible by IoT. For example, Intel, McAfee and Wind River are working together to help deliver the promise of the IoT and ensure connectivity, manageability, and security. No one company can do it alone.

Check out this great overview video from Jim Robinson, GM of the Sectors and Broad Market Division, Intel Intelligent Systems Group:

In addition to all that was going on, I had the pleasure of working in the Intelligent Systems Zone at IDF and meeting with hundreds of developers and business managers eager to learn more about Intel Architecture and the very latest platforms, tools, applications, and technologies that are accelerating innovation in our industry. A sample from the broad IoT landscape was on full display in our booth with great demos:

I want to personally thank everyone who visited us in the booth and I urge you to keep in close touch with us via social media. Check out our Facebook IDF 2013 Photo Album to see a collection of great photos throughout the show and check back soon on YouTube for new show videos. I can’t be a spoiler, but you’ll definitely want to stay tuned for important announcements coming very soon about what’s next for Intel in the Internet of Things!
