The “Standards for Immigration Reform” issued today by House Republicans represent an important step forward in the immigration reform effort and could help form the basis for bipartisan agreement on this important issue.
The standards make clear the commitment of the Republican leadership to address all aspects of reform in a thoughtful, step-by-step manner. They seek to not only repair a broken immigration system but strengthen our economy and help create jobs.
Reform of the legal immigration system, in particular, is important to Intel as we have too many employees who must work on temporary visas as they wait for years on end to receive their permanent green cards. One of our top priorities is to make more green cards available so our colleagues can have the security and peace of mind of permanent residency.
We welcome this statement of standards by the Republican leadership and look forward to continuing our work together to fix the immigration system this year.
