Pay, Stock and Benefits: On Time and On Line

I have been absent from the Jobs@Intel blog, but I have an explanation: I recently relocated to Intel’s Austin,Texas site. That’s right – a big change. And that’s taken a lot of time. There’s always a lot to think about when you move. But thankfully, one thing I didn’t have to worry about was my health benefits.

Pretty much the day after I put in my address change, I received an email from our Benefits group explaining that because I’d changed locations, I may need to change some of my health benefits. I hadn’t thought about that.

I went online and did have to change a couple things, but it was easy. Nice to know that someone out there in Intel benefits-land was looking out for me. Actually, benefits-land wasn’t that far from me back in Folsom. I knew a bunch of them and I can tell you, they know their stuff. I can’t think of a time they didn’t know the answer to a benefits question. And yeah, they had it all set up so that when I moved, I got an automated email reminding me to do the online enrollment.

By the way, have I mentioned that we pretty much do all of our pay, stock and benefits things online? Totally. Online paystub, direct deposit, timecard, W-2, W-4, stock purchase plan, stock sales, annual enrollment for health benefits, savings & retirement plans, address change, and way more. We are an online company. That’s how our employees rock and roll.

Speaking of rock and roll, did I mention the music scene in Austin? Awesome. The first day in the office, I sat down at a table where there was an empty chair, met a couple nice guys who worked in the lab there, and talked about testing Atom chips and the best places to go hear music. A couple Intel rock stars. I think I’m going to settle in here just fine.
