As we approach the start of the school year, we also approach the time when we’ll have to bid our interns farewell. It’s Erin’s turn to give us her recap of her summer internship!

"The other day a friend asked me if I was excited to return to school this fall. For the first time since I was six years old, I hesitated. See, I love school: I love the routine, the challenges, the friendships, the projects…and, usually, I can't wait to return. However, this summer has been such an amazing experience that even the draw of school can't mask how much I will miss it.

In April, I set foot in Oregon for the first time. Despite the fact that I didn't know a single person in the area, this place has become my home in just a few months. Along with other interns I've been able to see much of the area including: the Tillamook Cheese Factory (complete with a tour and samples), hiking near Portland and near the coast, dipping my toes in the Pacific ocean (its mighty cold!), Portland Saturday Market, berry picking, barbeques, Portland Blues Festival, a boat dance, the Rose Gardens, Powell's bookstore, Portland's Voodoo Doughnut, and summer days in the park -- all making for a very exciting, jam-packed summer.

But my summer adventure includes more than road trips and excursions but extends to my personal and professional developments...

Key Professional Takeaways-

1. Better understanding of who I am and what my strengths are

2. Experience working alongside a bright, dedicated team

3. Confidence that I can find a way to add value

4. Knowledge about vast opportunities within Intel

5. More focused career goals

"Yes," I finally told her, "Of course, I'm excited to return to school, and I believe my experiences here will make me a better student and help me succeed after graduation." As I begin to put my Intel internship behind me I am able to more confidently look towards the future."

Thanks for sharing Erin! You sure did get a lot accomplished, both at work and outside of work, over a short period of time. We wish Erin the best of luck and will be back soon to share Raymond’s summer recap.
