Intel rock music videos? Check one more sign of the apocalypse!

posted by Jeff Moriarty on July 23, 2007

I think the most entertaining thing about being in the Web 2.0/Social Media cult in Intel isn’t the free matching footwear or unlimited refills at the Kool-Aid bar, it’s working with all the other kooks in this space. We all are after the same general goal, but have our own unique approach. This not only provides lots of interesting and diverse views, but it also creates enormous entertainment value.

Case in point - apparently our sales and marketing group has colored a bit outside the lines to support our vPro processors and hired Christopher Guest (of Spinal Tap, Best in Show, etc. fame) to produce some videos. There’s a full site at ITGetsEasier hosting these geek-vids, and they’re also out on YouTube. Just the fact that Intel is on YouTube without half of our legal team going into cardiac arrest is a shocking development, let alone with music videos from Guest.

I don’t think I’ll be putting the mp3s on my iPod generic music playing personal device, but I got a kick out of them. I’m glad to see our marketing folks take a gamble like this, and they definitely get props for singing “client manageability” with a straight face. Give them a peek.

Turn your IT up to eleven.

(sorry, couldn’t resist…)

This is a great post and I got the alert through my brand-spankin’ new Intel Software Dispatch Widget.

Jeff, keep writing.

Intel, keep rocking.

Thanks, Sylvia! I just wish Intel would fund my own Guitar Guy to follow me around and strum. I bet my life would be a lot more exciting with a live soundtrack.

Since the “Intel Inside” campaign, Intel has always done a great job of marketing their products and services.

The bunny-people were my favorite.

It’s easy to make art, food or vacation spots seem exciting, but credit must go to the geniuses that handle Intel, who are, at the end of the day, mass producing Highly Organized Sand.

Hey buddy, anything beats Homer Simpson ads. I thought the video was mildly amusing and a “B-Movie” version of a really bad Tenacious-D tune. We should have slapped an old dropped-e logo, or I love Quad Core tattoo on the front man’s forearm; then we really would have appealed to the me generation & all those 80’s hair band fans like yours truly.

Hey, speaking of Tenacious-D. Perhaps a sequel to the Lord of the ReOrg could be well crafted spin on Tenacious-I and the CHIP of destiny, Just a thought.

PS I love your blogapalooza! UDM
