Shopping Evolution with the Internet of Things

Shopping can take place anywhere. From watching television on your couch, to walking down the street, to conversing with friends at a local restaurant—shopping does not begin solely with a customer entering a store—those physical boundaries no longer exist.

So how do we incorporate (and ideally enhance) the benefits of an online and increasingly mobile shopping experience in a retail environment? That is a question Intel is determined to help answer, and we start by asking another question: How does the consumer want to engage with the retailer? Check out the video below with my perspective during the NRF 2014 show.

The answers lie within a variety of solutions, but technology—increasingly mobile technology—is driving the future of the shopping. Shopping is also becoming more personal. The Internet of Things is bringing new possibilities with devices that are connected, managed, and secured to provide value to the customer and produce insights to the retailer for better business decision making.

I invite you to join me on Wednesday, May 6, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. PDT for a Twitter chat with Techlicious where we will talk about the future of shopping and some pretty incredible new innovations, like the first body-controlled smart mirror and a shopping anywhere experience for receiving mobile promotions in retail stores.

Follow us on Twitter at @IntelIot@retailerinsight and @Techlicious, and join in the conversation using #Inteliot.
