Wow, hard to believe that in less than a month developers, engineers, technology leaders, and business leaders from all over the world will convene in San Francisco for the annual Intel Developer Forum in North America!
In 2013, we’ve made a commitment to “go deep” into technology innovation by sharing our roadmaps, plans, tools, and trainings—as well as provide more access directly to technology experts. I’m also very excited to say we’ll be promoting our dialogue with you via social media. In fact, watch our social networks starting Tuesday (Aug. 20) for conversations with Intel experts and executives giving their insights on what to expect at #IDF13. Also, check back here for thoughts from our group’s own Adam Burns, Director of Strategic Planning of the Intelligent Solutions Division on the Internet of Things (IoT).
As a side note, we know that you’ve heard about IoT, but let me take a minute to capture a simplified definition. We’re talking about going from discrete, isolated systems to internet enabled devices that can network and communicate with each other and with other web-enabled devices. The shift is making possible opportunities for business of all sizes and across virtually all industries. This is sure to be a big topic of discussion at IDF so listen for the buzz and join in the conversation.
Stop by the Intelligent Systems Zone at IDF to experience a vision of IoT in action. We’ll be on the second floor concourse at the top of the escalator – you can’t miss us! We’ll have several demos that highlight the power of intelligent systems including an intelligent vehicle application from new Intelligent Systems Alliance member ADLINK. The centerpiece of the booth is the Intel World Interactive Amusement Park Experience demonstration, which shows how Intel technology can be harnessed end-to-end across all the sectors you’d find in a real amusement park: retail, vending, digital signage, industrial controls, DSS, medical, energy, automotive, smart buildings, energy, communications/M2M, and data center/cloud and storage. Get a sneak peek in the video below:
Visitors to the booth who take their picture and share it with the #IntelIoT hashtag will be eligible to win prizes … more details to come!
Because we want you to meet the experts who can most impact your work, the Technology Showcase hours have been increased. Intel engineers will be on-hand to have the conversations you need. And don’t miss two poster chats on Thursday, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.: “Innovating Embedded Designs with Intel 4th Gen Core ULT Processors,” with Carmen Enns, and “Intel Firmware Support Package (Intel FSP) for Intelligent Systems,” with Jiming Sun. Learn more about the technical sessions here.
If you’re a developer who helps shape the direction for your company’s technology, you need to see what we have in store at IDF.
And if for some reason you haven’t registered to attend yet, do it NOW! I’ll be at the Intelligent Systems Zone; send me any questions you may have over Twitter using @Intel_Chick and also follow @IntelSys. I look forward to seeing you there!
