VIDEO: IDF -- The Crystal Ball of Innovation

posted by Ken Kaplan on July 22, 2008

We’ll be kickin’ it right here live from the Intel Developer Forum happening August 19 through the 21st in San Francisco.

Thousands of super smart engineers from around the world will converge to share their ideas on the future – from supercomputers to tiny Mobile Internet Devices to the ever better performing wired and wireless world connecting us to the Internet.

IDF’s a gathering for hardware and software wizards who come to argue and collaborate on building the next must-have computer gizmo, as well as finding ways to solve real world problems through technology innovation.

Here are some special guests we’re looking forward to seeing:

Intel innovation buzzwords to watch:

  • Nehalem — codename for the next processor microarchitecture, following the current Intel Core Microarchitecture
  • Larrabee — codename for next graphics processing chips
  • SoC — system on a chip, the next step in keeping Moore’s Law moving ahead in our faster paced world
  • Netbooks — new lines of smaller, lower cost mobile computers
  • Moorestown and MIDs — Mobile Internet Devices built with Intel Atom processors
  • Some other codenames deciphered here by Intel Software insider Jeff Moriarty

The IDF keynotes will cover everything from World Ahead to Enterprise Computing, Mobility and Wireless, Home Internet Entertainment and Intel Research on the horizon.

Join us in San Francisco by registering for IDF or join us on this blog and these places:

  • IDF Group on Facebook
  • Share photos with us from the event on this IDF group, where you can see over 600 shots from past IDF events in Shanghai and San Francisco
  • Follow us on Twitter @IDF and we’ll follow you back

If you’re a Bay Area-based blogger and would like to attend, I have a handful of passes we can hand, so leave a comment.

Take a look back at the accomplishments of past IDFs and let us know how you can help us create the future.
