Welcome to the Intel Developer Forum blog!

After more than ten years working in a variety of roles here at Intel, I can tell you that (in my humble opinion) no event embodies the soul of this company quite as much as the Intel Developer Forum — “IDF” as it is known to veteran participants and attendees.

There are, of course, the technical experts — be it presenters or attendees: engineers, developers and scientists who together hold the future of an industry in their hands, and who are yet refreshingly down-to-earth, unable to downplay the passion that moves them. There is the electrifying sense of innovation present around every corner — during the keynotes, on the exhibit floor, during Technical Insights panels and hands-on labs, at Ultimate Geek competitions, and in the animate chatter that takes place throughout the halls of Moscone Center.

Probably less obvious to everyone is the network of people who make it all happen — living example of a corporate culture that strives to execute flawlessly, takes pride in its hard work and has fun in the process. I’m thinking of people like the one who single-handedly coordinates the delivery of 170 hours of classes and training, or the one who pulls together 150 companies onto a showroom floor. That, too, is the soul of Intel.

But IDF is about so much more than Intel alone. It’s about the hundreds of developers who, year after year, apply the technology and their learnings to address the challenges of their respective industries. It’s about the companies — equipment manufacturers from Lenovo to Sun, software vendors from Symantec to Microsoft, components manufacturers from Samsung to Rambus, and many, many more — that bring together resources to deliver the products and solutions we use everyday.

Given all that we have in store for this event, we’ve decided to launch a blog specifically to cover IDF. Our goals for this blog are to help you, the attendees, make the most of the conference by highlighting some activities and events; to enable a dialog with some of the technical experts from the conference; to solicit your feedback on your experience; and to create a focal point for IDF-related community activity so that you may more easily find others who share your interests and voice your point of view.
