Bite-sized CSR: "Green" Fleets

bite-size-2011-CRR-COVER-small-300x235.pngWhile we've received quite a bit of attention for the new 2020 environmental goals in our 2011 Corporate Responsibility Report, one goal which has received considerably less attention is buried on page 100 (if you make it that far); Intel has committed to establish a 100% "green" ground transportation fleet by 2016.

At first glance, it sounds a little strange - after all, we're a tech company, not a transportation or shipping company. But we have cars, and our employees rent cars, and when we identify opportunities where we can reduce our impact, we do.

To achieve this goal, we're taking a number of steps - from promoting SmartWay here in the U.S., to offering more hybrid rental options, to making hourly electric/hybrid car rentals available at our sites, to setting MPG and carbon emissions targets for our leased vehicles, Intel is "driving" our way to a 100% "green" fleet. Pun intended.
