The WiMAX demo with RC race cars turned out great!

posted by Marc Wallis on January 08, 2008

In a previous post, I mentioned this fun demo that Intel was putting together with drivers in simulated F1 cars in the main Intel booth, controlling small remote controlled cars across the street at Pit Lane Park. There are small video cameras mounted inside the RC cars, and that video is steamed back to the main booth so the drivers can see where they are going. What makes this a WiMAX demo is that the control signals for the cars and the drivers videos are streamed back and forth across a WiMAX network. Fascinating! I watched the demonstration from both ends and it really was a great demo and fun to watch.

I made a short video clip of all the action.
