Smash Mouth Lead Singer, Steve Harwell, Intel’s New CEO!?

Intel CEO and President Paul Otellini today in his CES keynote helped Smash Mouth’s lead singer Steve Harwell jam virtually with his band back home in his Mom & Dad’s garage. It looked like so much fun Paul offered to trade jobs with Steve and for a few seconds it looked like a big announcement in the making. Imagine Intel being led by a rock star! And that’s exactly what Paul showed to the crowd…what the future will look like if Intel were run by a rock star.
The Internet will be proactive and know where you are, what you want, and when you want it. You’ll be able to carry an instant language translator in your pocket. You’ll be able to virtually create bands and jam together real time. You’ll create an avatar of yourself and create videos. Much of this technology already exists from exciting innovators like eJammingAUDiiO, BIGstage, and Virtual Heroes*.
Paul showed the crowd the new Mobile Internet Devices enabled by Intel’s new “Menlow” platform that delivers the full Internet in your pocket with video, flash, Java* and more; he talked about the new system on a chip “Canmore” that Intel has developed for CE devices; and how Moore’s Law – that “every 2 years the number of transistors doubles” will mean that Intel can help make these exciting experiences come to life.
Steve Harwell helped close the keynote singing “hey, now, you’re an All Star, get your game on…” Intel definitely has its game on and is ready to bring you the next generation Internet!
