Intel AppUp® is making enhancements to our tools and capabilities to improve the experience for consumers wanting to get the best desktop applications, and make the Intel AppUp center the best catalogue for consumers. There is a need to provide consumers with a fuller, richer experience with apps that fit their lifestyle and make Ultrabook™ devices and the PC experience more powerful, useful, and fun. We want to deliver integrated services to manage devices and content for both consumer and enterprise markets, and be the most trusted source for all apps that enable these richer experiences on Intel based devices.
To align with these new enhancements, we will be updating our validation policies on July 19, 2013, as follows:
Hardware Feature support:
Intel AppUp is interested in apps that make use of Ultrabook™ features for touch, sensors, graphics, power and performance. We are looking for apps designed for the best user experience with multi-touch gestures and fluid interactive elements; apps with imaginative use of GPS, Touch, Accelerometer, Orientation, Inclinometer & Ambient Light Sensors. It is now a requirement for developers to have at least one or more of these features supported in their apps. In addition, apps must be optimized for an Ultrabook device; apps whose screen size was designed for a phone will not pass validation. We no longer support Windows XP; apps that only have Windows XP only support will not pass validation. We will continue to support Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit) and Windows 8 (32-bit and 64-bit) operating systems.
March 22, 2013, we announced that we no longer support the Intel AppUp SDK; we no longer accept new applications that require the AppUp SDK. Therefore, any apps submitted that utilize the SDK and have not been published to the Intel AppUp Center will not pass validation.
Application Packaging Requirements:
Due to the discontinuation of the Intel AppUp SDK, we no longer support Java software.
